1. Decide on your domain name, or URL, this is the address that will be typed in the address bar on the browser to get to your site, e.g. www.thewebmaestra.com

2. Check to be sure the name is available using godaddy.com or some other online source

3. Purchase the domain name

4. Now purchase server space provider for your website; this is different from the domain name, just like your house (server) is different than your address (domain)

5. Connect your domain and your server space by pointing the domain nameservers to the right server
